  -Ending the Silence
is an in-school presentation designed to teach middle and high school students about the signs and symptoms of mental illness, how to recognize the early warning signs and the importance of acknowledging those warning signs. Through this classroom presentation, students get to see the reality of living with a mental health condition.
*3 types of presentations are available: for students, for staff and also for families


-In Our Own Voice
trained presenters who are in recovery from mental illness share compelling personal testimonies about their experiences of living with and dealing with the challenges posed by mental illness.

  • NAMI Orange "Families Helping Families"
    NAMI Orange family members are encouraged to contact us if interested in becoming a hospital volunteer to occasionally be scheduled to sit outside the ORMC Behavioral Unit to provide informational packets and support to families as they visit their loved ones.

  • NAMI Orange Helpline Telephone Responders
    NAMI Orange members who will have received training volunteer to respond (remotely from their home) to incoming NAMI Orange telephone inquiries.

  • Staff an outreach table for an hour or two by distributing  informational pamphlets & brochures to the community.

  • NAMI Ending the Silence presenters
    NAMI trainings are being offered for interested NAMI members who have experienced a  mental health condition and who wish to be presenters to their local middle schools and/or high schools after receiving their NAMI training.

  • NAMI Family Support Group facilitators
    for interested NAMI members who have a loved one with a mental health condition and who wish to be facilitators of an on-going Family Support Group (who would meet once a month) in the Newburgh area after receiving their training. 

  • NAMI Connection facilitators
    NAMI trainings are offered for interested NAMI membefrs who have experienced a mental health condition and who wish to be facilitators of an on-going recovery support group. 

  • NAMI Peer to Peer instructors

    is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery.

    Taught by trained leaders with lived experience (2 day training scheduled in May-Call Dhanu at 845-294-2749 to express your interest and to discuss the details of how to register for the training), this program includes activities, discussions and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches.


  • NAMI In Our Own Voice presenters
    Upcoming NAMI trainings are being offered for interested NAMI members who have experienced a  mental health condition and who wish to be presenters to their local groups after receiving their NAMI training.
