  -Ending the Silence
is an in-school presentation designed to teach middle and high school students about the signs and symptoms of mental illness, how to recognize the early warning signs and the importance of acknowledging those warning signs. Through this classroom presentation, students get to see the reality of living with a mental health condition.
*3 types of presentations are available: for students, for staff and also for families


-In Our Own Voice
trained presenters who are in recovery from mental illness share compelling personal testimonies about their experiences of living with and dealing with the challenges posed by mental illness.

3 types of NAMI memberships with the same benefits:

  • Individual $40 Regular membership fee, or
  • Household $60 membership applies to everyone living in a single household, or
  • *Open Door $5 fee is exclusively based on financial need, but please note that students automatically qualify for the Open Door membership)

    All categories described above include membership in all 3 levels of NAMI:
         - NAMI Orange County, NY (local affiliate)
         - NAMI-NYS (State level) and
         - NAMI (National level)

    New members may join now with the understanding that the membership will extend for exactly one year from the processing date.  Members who renew will always have their membership extend exactly one year beyond their current expiration date.

Member benefits include NAMI's flagship magazine, the Advocate, as well as NAMI's monthly e-newsletter NAMI Now.  NAMI conferences will be at a discounted rate.  Members-only information on NAMI's web site will be available to you. Monthly NAMI Orange meetings with guest speakers as well as email announcements pertaining to advocacy, education, self-help groups, federal and NYS legislative issues, etc.

Members/non-members are encouraged to view our web site at namiorangeny.org for resources and local supports.

If you would like to make a donation to us (we are the Orange County, NY Affiliate of NAMI), please make check payable to NAMI Orange and mail it to us at:

For Your Awareness:

A donation that is made directly to NAMI Orange is allowed to stay 100% with us (the local affiliate). However, a donation that is made to NAMI, the national organization, will be equally distributed between NAMI, NAMI-NYS and NAMI Orange (1/3, 1/3, 1/3). 

Donations that are made to NYS NAMIWalks are distributed 50% to the State NAMI organization and 50% to NAMI Orange.
